Week 2

The amount of work that goes into a blog is definitely more than I initially thought. I blogged every day of the first week, but I'm not sure that is the right format. I can't imagine trying to read 365 daily blog posts... Talk about overkill. Thus, I'm thinking 52 weekly blog posts will prove to be plenty. I'll still give weekly totals, the same as I did daily and any daily notes I may have for myself will show up below.

Weds January 6
Still feeling full from the food I'm eating, but under calories by 300 today. Got a ton of steps running in place again today. This allows me to get a little workout done in the house so I can also be helpful. I'm sure I'll make it outside for a real run soon. Feeling great!

Thurs January 7
About 300 short on calories again today, but feeling satisfied and full of energy. It's getting easier to make good food choices already and I've been really enjoying my fruits and vege's. Got in quite a few steps again tonight, but didn't go near as long as the last two days.

Fri January 8
Today went well again. We are traveling to eastern Washington for Stella's birthday so no workout this evening. We met Chris and Brandy at "Ellensburg Pasta Co" for dinner and I think I ate pretty well. Other than the 2 beers I had a small spaghetti dish and a side of steamed broccoli. I hope I can do just as well tomorrow while we are at triple play in Coeur D'alene.

Sat January 9
"Tired"... That pretty much sums up how I'm feeling right now. We went to Ellensburg yesterday to spend the night before heading onward to Coeur D'Alene to visit family. Two 3.5 hours drive sounds way better than one 7 hour drive right? We had a nice dinner with my brother and his family at the "Ellensburg Pasta Co." And went to our hotel to get settled in. Then, out of nowhere, our oldest son started throwing up about 10:30 and then, every two hours after that he was up throwing up more. I felt pretty horrible that he wasn't feeling well and woke up with every little sound he made so I'd be able to help him with lights, ushering him from the hotel bed to the bathroom toilet... Ugh, I'm beat. Needless to say we ended up making the decision to head home once we woke up (Crawled out of bed) this morning. Eating was tough. Had an Americano and a breakfast sandwich from Starbucks on our way out of town and some berries about halfway through our drive. Then nothing substantial until dinner this evening. No workout for me today either. Tomorrow morning however, I am going on a run with a friend of mine. I'm pretty excited and it will give me something to get moving before the Seahawks playoff game against the Vikings! Well, off to sleep, I need it!

Sun January 10
Beer and football today with a couple of friends. No surprise that I went over my calories, but only by 300. Go Hawks!

Mon January 11
Today was a blur. Food went well, but the wife had to work late with "science team" and everyone but myself has come down with something. No workout today.

Tues January 12
Weekly weigh in, shows I lost 5 lbs this morning, Woot! I've been trying to remove the animal products, sugar, and alcohol from my meals in hopes that I will be able to get off the gout medicine. Today was the first day I succeeded in this. Not that I was far off the last few days, but today was a full on vegan day. I've been reading a lot about the negative affects of having meat or animal products in your diet. I suppose I can blame this on Rich Roll and his podcast as well as Dr. Greger of nutritionfacts.org. I won't bore you with all of the details, but pay attention to either of these two guys and you'll be better off.

Weekly Totals

Weight: 214 (-5 lbs)
Calories: 12864
Steps: 61759
